What You Need to Know

The Look of Montage Deer Valley

Montage Deer Valley has a classic, lodge-like exterior, and is surrounded by 26 pristine acres of land, all of which sets the scene for a rustic-chic — heavy emphasis on the “chic” — escape. After pulling up to the expansive porte cochère adorned with stone columns and wooden beams, you’ll be whisked off into the lavish lobby area, which has wooden walls and floors, a striking chandelier, and a life-sized bronze statue of a skier. Before making your way up to your room, soak up the stunning views from the terrace or head to the sprawling pool deck that offers ample room for lounging.

The public spaces, including eight bars and restaurants, have a similarly cozy look and feel. Highlights include Daly’s Pub and Rec, which offers comfort food in a Western-inspired pub (think: antler chandeliers and dark wood accents), and the aptly named Aprés Lounge (a Veuve Clicquot-stocked yurt outfitted with cozy furnishings and throw blankets). The Vista Lounge, which offers plush seating flanked by a roaring fireplace, is another guest favorite for cocktails and fondue.

The property’s 174 rooms, suites, and private residences start at 600 square feet and offer luxe amenities like private patios or balconies, gas fireplaces, and deep-soaking tubs. Design accents and furnishings pay homage to the natural beauty and history of the property's surrounds, such as silver detailing as a nod to the region’s rich mining history. Regardless of the category, each room offers sweeping mountain or valley views.

The Vibe at Montage Deer Valley

Montage Deer Valley embraces a warm and welcoming vibe with ultra-attentive service. While this is a luxury resort, it feels anything but stuffy or pretentious,  striking the perfect balance between homey and upscale.

Who Will Love Montage Deer Valley

Skiers of all ages will love the property’s convenient ski-in/ski-out access. Families will also adore the Montage Deer Valley, as it offers a slew of kid-centric amenities, including a bowling alley and arcade. The children’s programming, called Paintbox, features a mix of games, crafts, movies, and more. The property also offers lawn game tournaments, nature workshops, and family-oriented hiking, archery lessons, picnics, and horse-drawn sleigh rides. The nightly s’mores are another bonus.

Who Might Not Love Montage Deer Valley

Grown-ups craving a child-free escape may not enjoy the number of families found here. Also, with starting rates of around $500 per night, it’s not exactly a budget-friendly hotel, which means cost-conscious travelers may be happier elsewhere.

Best Amenity at Montage Deer Valley

In addition to the aforementioned family programming and ski-in/ski-out access, the 35,000-square-foot, alpine-inspired spa is a highlight. Services here include lymphatic drainage massages and oxygen facials. Pre- or post-treatment, guests can take advantage of amenities like redwood saunas, steam rooms, and jetted whirlpool tubs.

We’d also be remiss not to mention the on-site Compass Sports, which has ski rentals, lift tickets, and in-room private fittings in the winter — that is, in addition to fat tire biking, snowshoeing, and tubing. In the summer months, guests can sign up for guided hiking and mountain biking tours, as well as archery lessons.
